1. Scope and commercials

Decide what you are selling before you write a line of code.

List the products you will sell first: flights, hotels, transfers, activities, packages
Confirm your ticketing arrangement — IATA accreditation, host agency or consolidator
Agree which supplier content is yours and which comes from the provider
Know the commercial model: transaction fee, markup, commission or a mix
Define launch markets, currencies (PKR first?) and languages

2. Content and data model

Every supplier describes the same flight differently. Your product shouldn't have to.

Check GDS, NDC and low-cost content arrive in one normalised data model
Confirm how duplicate offers across sources are merged
Check fare families, baggage and fare rules are returned in readable form
Confirm hotel content mapping — one hotel, one ID, regardless of supplier
Ask how airport, city and airline reference data is maintained

3. Search, price and book

Where most integrations leak money: the gap between the price shown and the price paid.

Re-price before booking and handle price changes explicitly in your UI
Show the full, final price including taxes and fees
Handle time limits — when a booking must be ticketed or paid
Make booking calls idempotent so a retry never creates a second booking
Store supplier references (PNR, confirmation numbers) against your own order ID

4. After the booking

Changes, refunds and disruptions are where customers judge you.

Subscribe to webhooks for ticketing, schedule changes and cancellations
Map void, refund and reissue flows — and who is allowed to trigger each
Show refund amounts and dates the customer can rely on
Decide which changes are self-service and which go to your support team
Keep a full audit trail per booking

5. Payments and reconciliation

Money and bookings must reconcile to the rupee.

Decide when you take payment: before or after confirmation
Support local payment methods alongside cards
Handle payment success with booking failure — and the reverse
Reconcile supplier invoices against every issued booking
Track revenue, supplier cost and margin per booking from day one

6. Security, performance and go-live

Travel peaks don't wait for business hours.

Keep API credentials server-side and scoped per environment
Never log full card or passport data
Load-test search for your peak — Eid weekends, Umrah season, fare sales
Set timeouts and fallbacks per supplier so one slow source can't stall search
Test in the sandbox end-to-end, including refunds, before production credentials
Agree support hours, escalation paths and service levels before launch
